Team Struggles To Reach Expectations

The Giants have had two meets in a row in which the high expectations for the team were not met.  The team hopes to get refocused and show the desire along with the focus and mental toughness needed to perform at their best.

 

At the Spartan Relays the team finished a disappointing 7th place but were just a few points out of 4th place.  Top three finishes were earned in the following events:

 

Middle Distance Relay (200-200-400-800)- junior Andrew Sledd 23.1, senior Nate Echt 23.8, senior Alex Kasemir 51.9, senior Jonah Hanig 2:04.3 – 3:42.9

 

4X100 Throwers Relay – Zach Korman, Michael Wilson, Chris Nieto, Owen Henry

 

High Jump – senior Josh Weinberg 5’2”, junior Daniel Blumberg 5’4”, senior Brendan Philador 6’0”, and senior John Bricker 5’10”

 

 

At the Lake County Invite the Giants had several highlights.

 

High Jump -  Bricker finished 3rd at 6’2” and Philador tied for 8th at 5’8”.

3200 Meter Run – Hanig finished 4th in 9:34.69

400 Meter Run – Kasemir finished 3rd  in 51.76

1600 Meter Run – sophomore Angel Estrada finished 7th in 4:28.27

4X400 Meter Relay – Echt, senior Rommell Gumiran, senior Marc Brenner, Kasemir finished 5th in 3:30.47
